BJJ – No Gi Grappling – MMA

Lincoln Summer Camp

4th & 5th July 2026

Wrestling For BJJ – MMA & No Gi Grappling

Take your grappling game up a level this summer with a focused two-day wrestling camp led by Lyubo Kumbarov, a 4-time Bulgarian National Champion & Outstanding wrestler of the year 2006 at the National Duels in Iowa, USA.

This camp is designed for MMA , BJJ and No Gi grapplers who want to improve their takedowns, pressure, anti-guard work, control, and overall wrestling confidence. Whether you compete, train regularly, or simply want to stop feeling like a confused shopping trolley every time wrestling starts, this weekend will give you practical tools you can use straight away.

What You’ll Be Training

Across the weekend, Lyubo will be covering two key areas that transfer directly into MMA, BJJ and No Gi grappling.

Day 1 — Anti Guard Game

Saturday 4th July
5pm – 8pm

This session will focus on using wrestling principles to deal with guard players, stop entries, control position, and create pressure without falling into common BJJ traps.

Expect work on:

  • shutting down guard attacks before they develop
  • controlling distance, posture, and head position
  • pressure-based passing concepts
  • wrestling-style control for grapplers
  • staying heavy without getting stuck
  • practical movement patterns for MMA, No Gi and BJJ

This is about learning how to make guard players uncomfortable, which is always a noble public service.

Day 2 — Pressure Game

Sunday 5th July
10am – 1pm

The Sunday session will focus on pressure, control, and wrestling-based dominance once contact has been made.

Expect work on:

  • top pressure and positional control
  • pins, rides, and wrestling-style pressure
  • controlling scrambles
  • keeping opponents flat, tired, and regretting their decisions
  • improving your balance, base, and weight distribution
  • applying wrestling pressure safely and effectively in MMA, BJJ and No Gi

This session is ideal for anyone who wants to become harder to move, harder to sweep, and generally more annoying to train with — in the best possible way.

Who Is This Camp For?

This camp is suitable for:

  • BJJ students
  • No Gi grapplers
  • MMA athletes
  • wrestlers crossing into submission grappling
  • competitors looking to improve stand-up and pressure
  • hobbyists who want more confidence in wrestling positions

You do not need to be an advanced wrestler to attend. The sessions will be practical, structured, and aimed at helping grapplers add wrestling into their existing game.

About Lyubo Kumbarov

Lyubo Kumbarov is a 4-time Bulgarian National Champion & Outstanding wrestler of the year 2006 at the National Duels in Iowa, USA. with a deep understanding of how to apply wrestling to grappling, BJJ, and No Gi training.

His coaching focuses on practical, pressure-based wrestling that actually works in live grappling exchanges — not flashy nonsense that looks good on Instagram but disappears the second someone sweaty grabs your neck.

You’ll learn from a high-level wrestler who understands how to make wrestling useful for grapplers.

Venue

The camp will be held at:

Function First Lincoln
Lincoln, UK

Function First is a full-time martial arts academy with a strong grappling culture and a practical, no-nonsense approach to training.

The venue also has access to a performance and recovery clinic, making this more than just a training weekend. You can train hard, recover properly, and make a proper weekend of it.

One of the unique parts of this camp is that attendees will have access to our on-site recovery facilities.

Treatments available include:

  • Cryotherapy
  • Floatation therapy
  • Red light therapy
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Performance and recovery treatments

All camp attendees receive 10% off any treatment during the weekend.

We recommend arriving early on Saturday so you can settle in, use the facilities, and make the most of the weekend before training starts.

Train hard. Recover properly. Don’t just hobble home like a medieval peasant.

Accommodation Nearby

Accommodation is available close to the venue, making it easy for anyone travelling in for the weekend.

There are nearby hotels, guest houses, and local places to stay within easy reach of Function First Lincoln. If you are coming from outside Lincoln, we recommend booking accommodation early, especially with the camp taking place over a summer weekend.

Optional Group Meal

There will be an optional group meal on Saturday night after training.

This is a chance to relax, eat, chat, and spend time with the group away from the mats. Attendance is completely optional, but it’s a good opportunity to make the weekend more social and connect with other grapplers.

Details for the meal will be confirmed closer to the event.
